COVID 19 – HOW TO AMUSE THE KIDS
/Be mindful, be creative and try to stay calm
Whilst at home protecting your kids from COVID-19’s harm
Teach them how to cook
And follow the instructions of a recipe book
Encourage their creative play
By giving them a bag of clay
Outside is best for this sort of fun
Also increases their Vitamin D when in the sun
Teaching them how to start a vegetable plot
Or plant some flower seeds in a pot
They’ll enjoy watching what they have sown
And reaping the nutritional benefits of the fresh veges grown
Painting is always an activity that kids enjoy
Regardless of whether they’re a girl or boy
It brings out their creativity
And is a calming and peaceful activity
Be mindful, be creative and try to stay calm
Whilst at home protecting your kids from COVID-19’s harm
Lego is educational with constructing through play
They’ll be proud of the scene they’ve built during their day
Colouring-in can be an effective calming tool
To ease their anxiety whilst this cursed pandemic rules
Origami and paper mache can further develop their skills
Or being crafty and starting their own papermaking mill
Teach them to be creative and do some beading
Or to become a bookworm enjoying a variety of reading
Blowing bubbles is always fun play
Or making bath bombs for a relaxing bath at the end of their day
Playing a board game is an enjoyable family activity to do
Rummikub, Monopoly and Blokus to name a few
Teaching them to crochet, knit or sew
Or playing fetch with the family dog in tow
Be mindful, be creative and try to stay calm
Whilst at home protecting your kids from COVID-19’s harm
Take the kids to kick the footy, or fly a kite at an uncrowded park
Or go camping out bush to enjoy toasting marshmallows after dark
Maybe arrange to have some animal petting time on a farm
Whilst social distancing to avoid COVID-19’s harm
Take the kids for a scenic bike ride
Or teach them to catch a fish on the change of tide
Instruct them on learning how to surf
Or create your own game of mini-golf on your backyard turf
Having a game of table tennis or badminton can pass the time
Or a game of charades testing their creativity through mime
Making their own drum to bash out a song
Or building a billy cart for towing along
Stamp, coin or stone collecting can be a lifetime interest to pursue
And now distract their attention from the media COVID-19 blues
Help them to make a cubby, treehouse or in-ground fort
And then get them to make their own video clip on what COVID-19 distancing has taught
In being mindful, creative and trying to stay calm
They have been protected by you at home from COVID-19’s harm
